This STOPPAGE time episode is a short, fun, witty session of Q & A with Kristen Smith, DPT.

Kristen is a Physical Therapist and Founder of Laps for Limbs.

Laps for Limbs Inc is a 501(c)(3) organization that is an ability-focused, community-oriented, non-profit organization that raises awareness and funds for local children and veterans with limb loss and limb differences. Laps for Limbs was inspired by a small Buffalo, NY amputee support group that expressed the lack of awareness and support for their needs in 2011. The inaugural Laps for Limbs of Western New York (WNY) took place on March 25th, 2012 at St. Francis High School in Hamburg, NY. To date, the event has raised over $70,000 and participants have completed 2,265 miles in support of local amputees. The event continues to gain support and add unique and meaningful experiences that enrich our communities.

Laps for Limbs events promote accessibility and inclusion, open to people of all abilities and ages. Their walk/run/roll events create community advocacy for amputees, in a family-friendly environment, while raising funds to promote improved quality of life. Funds raised promote improved community and home accessibility, increased availability of adaptive equipment for everyday living, and increased availability of adaptive equipment for participation in recreation and sport.
